WHY PRAYER IS OUR GREATEST BLESSING THIS SIDE OF HEAVEN

The greatest single privilege and blessing this side of heaven which our loving heavenly Father has bestowed upon His born-again children is prayer.  We can readily see how true this is when we consider the absolute incredible benefits of prayer in our lives:

  1. Prayer is a child talking to his father – Matthew 6:9
  2. Prayer is communion with our loving heavenly Father, Ruler, and Supreme Head of the Universe – Hebrews 4:16.
  3. Prayer is the means whereby we receive God’s greatest gift – the gift of the Holy Spirit- Luke 11:13.
  4. Prayer is the means whereby we enter into the Throne Room of Heaven – Hebrews 4:16.
  5. Prayer is asking and receiving – Matthew 7:7.
  6. Prayer is the means whereby God’s children receive all the riches of His blessings in Christ Jesus – Matthew 7:11.
  7. Prayer is the ordained means by which His children overcome worry – Phil. 4:6-7.
  8. Prayer is the way we stay in the battle of life and not give up – Luke 18:1.
  9. By prayer we experience the unthinkable, the unknowable, and the miraculous – Jer. 33:3; Ephes. 3:20.
  10. Prayer results in the fullness of heavenly joy – John 16:24.
  11. Prayer is the energy that enables the Christian soldier to wear the armor and wield the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God – Ephesians 6:19-20.
  12. Prayer is the pathway to spiritual healing (salvation) and physical healing – James 5:14-16.
  13. Prayer is delightful – Hebrews 10:19-20.
  14. Prayer can be dreadful – Isaiah 6:1-8.
  15. Prayer is difficult – Romans 15:30.
  16. Prayer is desperation – Genesis 32:22-32.
  17. Prayer is defeated – Isaiah 59:1-2; Psalm 66:18.
  18. Prayer is detested – The devil fears when he sees the weakest saint upon his knees.
  19. “Prayer is to the human spirit what oxygen is to the human body”- Emil Brunner.
  20. Prayer is discipline – 1 Timothy 4:7b. Please note the 7 guidelines to having a meaningful time with God daily – Handbook, pp. 70-74.
