- God Always Keeps His Promises: Numbers 23:19; 1 Kings 8:56
- God Always Keeps His Promise to deliver one from temptations: 1 Cor. 10:13.
- God Doubly Promises (not never – ou me in Greek) to deliver from sexual lust: Gal. 5:16.
- God Promises to Doubly Deliver from Sexual Sin with a Condition: Keep walking in the power of the Holy Spirit: “Keep walking in the Spirit” and then “You shall not never ever obey the lust of the flesh, including sexual lust.”
- Walking in the Spirit is loving Jesus so much that we are motivated in our hearts to live in obedience to His commandments:
- John 14:15, “If you love Me, you will keep my commandments – See 1 John 5:3
- John 15:10, “If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love”.
- John 14:21, “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
- Walking in the Spirit is Absolutely Necessary in order for one to overcome the power of his flesh, which is a person’s self life, what I call “King Self,” who rules most persons’ lives, especially men (Roman 8:1).
- To Walk in the Spirit Requires that One’s Flesh be Crucified (Romans 8:1-13), and no man on earth can crucify himself (Romans 8:13a).
- God in His Limitless Love Has Given Each of His Children the Gift of the Holy Spirit who can “put to death” (crucify) the flesh.
- In Order for the Holy Spirit to “Put to Death,” the Flesh, one must give the Holy Spirit permission to do so. “If we live according to the flesh, we shall die, but if we cause to be put to death the deeds of the body (our flesh) by the aid of the indwelling spirit, we shall live.” “Cause to be put to death” is Thanatoute, a causative vb. In Greek meaning “cause to be put to death.”
Personal Observation: It is unconscionable to believe that God would not empower a guy to overcome the most devastating sin in life – fornication and adultery (1 Cor. 6:18; Prov. 6:31-33). Indeed, He has, even the same power which He used in raising Jesus from the dead (Ephes. 1:19-20) also to raise the dead bodies of all believers (Romans 8:11) and surely guys on earth from sexual immorality (Gal. 5:16).
Illus: Everyday in the USA men who appeared to be very strong and highly accomplished fall before the temptation of a weak teen-ager flirt. Example: Michael Jordan, Pastor FBC, Roanoke, Pastor of richest church in America and my personal friend, top student in a great seminary, the President of the USA, FDR, John Kennedy, Clinton.
