GIANTS IN THE LAND
In 1 Samuel 17 we read how the army of Israel was faced with a giant named Goliath. I have certainly faced many issues and temptations in my life as a Christian that seemed like giants and were without a doubt too “big” for me to handle. I suspect that you have had the same experience as you continue to learn how to know and follow Jesus.
This week we are going to look at some of these issues or “giants.” We will also look at how the army of Israel dealt with it compared to how David dealt with it, as well as ask the question, “Why are there still “giants” in my land?”
Please look at the following questions below and come prepared to discuss these in your small groups.
1. What are some of the giants that have been vanquished in your life?
2. What are some that remain?
3. What was the difference between the army’s reaction to the giant and David’s reaction?
4. What was the driving force behind each reaction?
5. Have you seen both types of reactions in your own life and experience?
6. What was the driving force behind YOUR reactions?
7. What was God’s purpose in the events that took place between David and Goliath?
