Today we look at the 8th “I”: “Intense Devotion to One’s Family, Especially One’s Wife.” Since illicit sex is the greatest single threat to devotion to one’s family, our lesson today addresses this subject.
The first edition of the King James Version of the Bible was printed in 1611. Another edition was printed in 1631. In the later edition, possibly the most scandalous mistake in the history of printing was made. The word “not” was left out of the seventh commandment, so it read, “Thou Shalt Commit Adultery.” Not surprised that this Bible is called the “Wicked Bible.” Millions of American’s are following the “Wicked Bible.”
THE CHRISTIAN VIEW OF SEX:
- God created sex
- God’s purpose for sex is to express total unity
- God’s purpose for sex to be purposeful and pleasurable in marriage.
- God says sex is ruined outside of marriage
- Fornication – Sex between unmarried is a very great sin.
- Adultery – by a married man is even more abominable.
- The Consequences of Illicit Sex are devastating in this life.
- The Eternal Consequences are even more serious.
- The best way to defeat sexual temptation is to be:
- a totally committed to your spouse.
- Internalize God’s Word
- Walk in the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5:16)
- A Christian Worldview Includes what the Bible teaches about sex.
- Conclusion: Summary
- There is more to life than sex
- There is more to love than sex
- God promises a power whereby every guy under every circumstances can overcome sexual lust and live fabulously happy with one’s spouse.
