Memory work: Please memorize and meditate on 2 of the following verses. Please choose 2 that you have NOT internalized in the past. Also, please take a few moments to at least read and contemplate the others.
- 34:8 – “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Have YOU tasted the Lord’s goodness? How?
- 27:4 – “One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD,
And to inquire in His temple.” Do you have this same desire to experience the Father? - 34:6-7 – “And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, 7 keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”
This is who God says that He is. Does this match your view of Him or do you have a different view? Whether you realize it or not, your view of Him impacts your prayer life. How has YOUR view impacted your prayer life?
- 42:2 – “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?” Do you want to be in God’s presence with the same degree of intensity that David describes? Why or why not?
This week, let’s dig deep and answer a couple of questions as individuals regarding our motivation for prayer:
- Why do I (or why do I not) have a consistent prayer life? What is my motivation?
- As I examine the condition of my prayer life, does my view of God positively or negatively impact my prayer life?
