As your mentor, called by the Holy Spirit to come alongside of you especially during a time of economic disaster, I believe my finest ministry to you now is to show you how to be financially free, based upon God’s Word and my own experiences:
- Do not steal God’s tithe. You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house,
and try Me now in this, says the LORD of hosts, – Mal. 3:9-10. - Do not buy anything on a credit card that you cannot pay off before the end of the month. “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender” – Prov. 22:7.
- Do not go to the bank and agree to be the personal guarantee for someone else for any reason – “A man devoid of understanding shakes hands in a pledge, And becomes surety for his friend” – Prov. 17:18.
- Do not fail to work. The average work week in the Bible was sixty hours. If you are working 40 hours, you are working part time. “The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich” – Prov. 13:4.
- Do not steal time or resources from your employer or neighbor. “…this is the curse that goes over the face of the whole land: for everyone who steals shall be cut off…” Zech. 5:3 (AMP
- Do not waste anything God has given you, including food. “And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living” – Luke 15:12-13.
- Do not tithe legalistically to fulfill your religious duty but hilariously out of a heart in love with Jesus. “If you love Me, keep commandments” – John 14:15.
- Do not take on a debt without your spouse agreeing with you. If you and your wife do not agree on the way you spend your money, when the bill comes due, there is going to be a fight and often a divorce. “Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?” – Amos 3:3.
- Do not presume that God will take care of your basic needs unless you seek first His kingdom and righteousness. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”- Matthew 6:33.
- Do not confuse your needs with your greed. God never promised to meet our greed but our needs. “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” – Phil. 4:19.
- Do not assume you have met your obligations when you tithe. Tithing is a good place to start, but a tragic place to stop. “There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty.” – Prov. 11:24.
- Do not think you can ever out give God. Remember the “Big” and “Little” shovel principle. While you shovel out to God with your “little” shovel, God is standing right behind you, shoveling out to you with His “Big” shovel. “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” – Luke 6:38.
