- God is our source in receiving and also in giving. In 1 Chron. 29 David is celebrating the fantastic giving of the Israelites for the building of the Temple. The people had worked and collected David said I cannot really thank the people cause everything came from you in the first place. Greatest law of prosperity. God is our source. The source of First Baptist is not you but God. Your employer is not your source- it’s God. Every time I get on an airplane, I say, Lord keep this airplane safe. Its’ the crew and plane but behind this is the invisible God who is my source of safety. All comes from God. God is our source. When we give, we only give what He has given to us. 1 Chron 29:14.
- Your spiritual growth can never exceed your growth in giving or your faithfulness in money matters. In Luke 16:11 Jesus said if you have not been faithful who will true riches are spiritual riches. For ex. Faith, fruit of Holy Spirit. Jesus says if you have not been faithful in money matters, you cannot expect me to bestow upon you true riches which is true spirituality. Remember the true spiritual blessings that have come into your lives when we begin to release our giving by faith. This is true with the individual, the family and the church of the living God. When we began to trust God like we have never trusted Him, God poured out His blessings upon the Church. When we fail to understand and obey the principles of giving, we are robbing ourselves of God’s best which is true spirituality. We see this before our eyes in an amazing way. We cannot be disobedient in material things and receive the blessing of God.
- Giving is an investment with God. Jesus says this. In Matt. 6:19-21. Lay not for yourselves treasures on earth but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” I was talking to a friend of mine who was about to close its doors. These 6 men began to talk. All talking about where they had invested his money. Pastor since I was 19 years of age I have been investing 10, 20% or more with the Lord. There is not a bank in the world that pays the interest that I am getting. If you belong to Jesus and you are investing in Jesus Christ you are involved in the best investment in the world and you can’t loose. This is the only investment that is going to last. You are going to loose everything else. This is what Jesus said. John McArthur church had a budget of 900,000. He is writing a lot of books. In one years time, he raised the budget of his church from 900,000 to 3and half million. He shared this principle with his people and they got so excited that that wanted to give .
- Right giving sets in motion a divine cycle. Luke 8:38. Give, Jesus said and it shall be given unto you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken down.” Giving begins when God gives to you. Remember everything you have today, God gave it to you. Not your employer. If the economy is our source, we’ll be scared to death all the time. Secondly, I receive from the hand of God. Thirdly I give back
