25 TALKING POINTS ON THE VIRGIN BIRTH

25 TALKING POINTS ON THE VIRGIN BIRTH

(a)     To show its historical reality

(b)     To explain how it happened

(c)     To explain why it was an absolute necessity

(d)     To show our proper response thereto

(e)     To assess how we should honor and – should not honor Mary

First read Luke 1:26-56; Matthew 1:18-25; Isaiah 7:14:

  1. Did the Virgin Birth really happen and how can we know it happened?
  2. To whom did it happen?
  3. Why did Mary consider it an impossibility?
  4. When did it happen?
  5. Where did the Virgin Birth  happen?
  6. What part did a Pagan Ruler unwittingly have in making it occur where God said it would occur?
  7. How did it happen?  And who answered that question in the Bible?
  8. Why did Luke, a highly respected medical doctor, not give a scientific explanation?
  9. Why did the Virgin Birth  happen?
  10. Did it ever happen before or after it happened to Mary?
  11. How about “test-tube” babies?
  12. Why has the Virgin Birth been attacked as no other doctrine in history?
  13. Does the Bible ever refer to Mary as “the mother of God?”  Example:  “The Heavenly Mother” group today.
  14. But Jesus is God.  Why is Mary not the Mother?
  15. Is there documented evidence that the early church believed in the Virgin Birth outside of the Bible?
  16. Why did Mary “hide” herself 3 months after learning of her pregnancy?
  17. How should Christians honor Mary today?  How should they not honor her?  Who said to Mary, “Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb?” Illus:  TODAS CUBA A PIES.
  18. Which is the greater miracle, the Virgin Birth or the New Birth?
  19. How are the Virgin Birth and the New Birth similar?  Would the New Birth be possible without the Virgin Birth?
  20. If one experiences the miracle of the New Birth, why should he have any problem believing in the Virgin Birth?
  21. If one believes the first verse in the Bible, should he have any problem in believing the Virgin Birth for that verse says God created ex nihilo, out of nothing, the entire universe?
  22. Should the reality of the Virgin Birth affect the way we celebrate Christmas?
  23. What great lessons do we learn from the “Manger” and from a peasant woman being chosen to be the mother of our Savior?
  24. Can you be saved, if after knowing about the Virgin Birth, you deny it?
  25. Is your heart a Spiritual Bethlehem?

“O Holy Child of Bethlehem, Descend on Us today,

Cast out our sins and enter in,

Be born in us today.”
